Welcome to Lofoten Viking

Lofoten Islands, Norway

Lofoten is an archipelago in the far north of Norway.

Located within the Arctic Circle, it's  an area known for its exceptional natural beauty and traditional way of life.

The sea in this remote and exotic place is teeming with life, and here you can find the world's largest deep water coral reef (Røst Reef, 40 km long) - located at right at the end of the Lofoten chain.

For centuries traditional Norse fisherman have harvested the rich natural resources, against a backdrop of snowy peaks and the vast silent ocean.

The Midnight Sun in Lofoten
From the Land of the Midnight Sun...

In 2004 two strong traditional fishing companies    - Arne Mathisen AS and Prime Sea Products AS - merged into a larger and more competitive group now known as Lofoten Viking AS.

Lofoten Viking AS has since further expanded its export potential by joining forces with the Nergård Group, one of the biggest Norwegian exporters of seafood.

Lofoten Viking's products are based on raw materials from the rich fishing grounds across the north of Norway.

Our factory is located conveniently near to the fishing grounds, on the beautiful island of Værøy, the penultimate of the Lofoten islands.

Viking Ship
...and the land of the Vikings...

Beneath the towering cliffs of Værøy many burial sites from the Viking Age have been found, and the midnight sun can be seen from May 30 to July 13.
